$17.5 Million Settlement in 2014 Home Depot Data Breach

Home Depot has reached a $17.5 million settlement with 46 states’ attorney generals and the District of Columbia over the data breach in 2014 that exposed the credit and debit card information of approximately 40 million customers of the home improvement company.

Mastermind criminals hacked into Home Depot’s self-checkout kiosk system through installed malware and third-party vendor’s username and password which, in turn, harvested all the customer data for several months of year 2014.
