$370,000 Settlement For Roanoke Jail Death

A man who committed suicide in the Roanoke jail in Virginia. A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the mother of and has been settled for $370,000.

The Roanoke Times reported that last week, a judge decided on a settlement regarding the death of Clifton Antonio Harper at the Virginia Jail. The suicide happened in 2015.

His mother filed a lawsuit against jail officials in 2016, claiming that they had failed to take appropriate steps to stop her son’s suicide.

The lawsuit claimed that he had previously been diagnosed with several mental illnesses.

Unfortunately, seven people committed suicide at the Roanoke jail between the years of 2015 and 2019.

Two other wrongful death cases are currently pending in Virginia.
